A blue-eyed blessing!

Alright, there is surely no denying that the past 5-6 months have been absolutely insane. For many, this pandemic has meant loss of jobs, an abundance of stress, loneliness, missing out on major life events, depression, and the list goes on…
Now, as if COVID-19 has not been stressful enough on its own, BILLIONS of expecting mothers have been challenged with the daunting task of bringing a child into the world.
CAN YOU IMAGINE!?
Picture this: You’ve got your very own little human growing inside your belly, how exciting!! You’re building a family, planning your future and your baby shower is quickly approaching... and BOOM! A world-wide pandemic hits. What? Yup! For real. Now that baby shower of yours… Nope, not happening. Oh, you want your whole family at the hospital when baby arrives? Not a chance. But guess what, that baby is still coming! There’s no postponing this one, folks! Sadly, this is happening to countless mothers, families, couples, etc.
Now enter Allie, James and baby Emerson. Allie and James married in 2018 and then in 2019 they had announced that they were expecting a baby! What would typically be the most exciting time of their lives quickly took a very stressful turn. Being an elementary school teacher, Allie was out of work and James transitioned to working from home. After attempting to reschedule their shower for their first child, they came to the difficult decision to cancel the event.
On May 22, 2020 Emerson made his first appearance. His big, beautiful blue eyes stole his parents' hearts at first glance. Although family is extremely important to Allie and James (especially during a life changing moment), they were the only ones allowed in the hospital for Emerson's arrival. It wasn't until the family returned to their home where Emerson could FINALLY meet his grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc - through a glass door. Yes, at first Emerson knew his family only as the mysterious, masked figures admiring him through a window. At 3 months old, Emerson has only been three places - his home, the doctor's office and his grandmother's house.
You KNOW I cannot end a post on such a sad note, so let's turn it around.
Both Allie and James are GRATEFUL beyond words to be able to say that they have been able to spend every single day of Emerson's first three months with him. They have been able to bond as a new family and grow together. They have quickly found all of their baby's quirks, when he likes to eat, his optimal nap times and the most perfect way to hold him to lull him to sleep. They have truly made the most of the moments that they were been blessed with. What better way to push through these unpredictable times than with those you love so dearly. Baby Emerson offered a glimmer of light and hope in the darkest of time. A little blue-eyed blessing.
Can we just take a moment to say that this little family is SO darn strong (and super-crazy-incredibly adorable!!)
